Done Deal: Chelsea Confirm £5m Deal to Sign Brazilian Teenager Wallace

Stamford Bridge side complete signing of young defender.

Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce we have agreed terms with Fluminense for the transfer of Wallace in the January window.

An attacking right-back, Wallace Oliveira dos Santos was born on May 1, 1994, and made his senior debut this year at the age of 17.

He has since gone on to appear 18 times in the league for the first team, helping them to the Brazilian league championship, the Rio State League and the Guanabara Cup.

The deal is said to have set Chelsea back £5m and will see the teenager join fellow countrymen David Luiz, Ramires, Oscar and Lucas Piazon.

The signing of Wallace suggests that the Blues are again looking to the future and Chelsea will allow the youngster to remain at Fluminense until the end of the Brazilian domestic season.

Though Chelsea have brought in Cesar Azpilicueta to fill the right-back berth the fact that Branislav Ivanovic has moved into a central defensive role there is clearly room for Wallace to challenge for a first team spot next term.
