Anfield hot-shot wants out.
Well respected Italian source Corriere Dello Sport are reporting that Uruguayan international Luis Suarez is looking to leave Anfield at the earliest opportunity. They claim that the Liverpool striker wants to quit the Premier League entirely and this has led to interest from Serie A table toppers Juventus.
The Turin side managed to clinch the domestic title last term without losing a game but did so without a prolific forward spearheading their attack, indeed their top scorer Alessandro Matri only managed ten goals, and therefore it’s perhaps not surprising that boss Antonio Conte would target the Liverpool striker.
The 25 year old former Ajax man is arguably Liverpool’s only effective goal-scoring weapon at present and is a player Brendan Rodgers will not want to see leave the club.
Suarez has been a consistent performer since his £22.8m move to the club in the summer of 2010 but has become even more lethal in front of goal in recent months, netting ten Premier League goals thus far this term.
This source also claims that Chelsea are in the hunt to land Suarez a move that would send the Liverpool fans into fits of seething rage.
Luis Suarez is tied down to a long term Liverpool contract and that may well help to fend off interest in the forward but if the striker does indeed state his desire to leave then it could prove very hard to prevent, especially as there would be little point in retaining a player who is unhappy to remain at the club.
