Tottenham Linked With Move to Sign Juventus Attacker

White Hart Lane side said to be keen on Italian international.

Italian source CalcioMercato claim that Juventus forward Fabio Quagliarella is being targeted by both Zenit St Petersburg and Tottenham following reports that the 29 year old has fallen out with coach Antonio Conte.

Fabio Quagliarella was subbed on the hour during Juventus’s defeat to AC Milan late last month and then dropped for the Turin derby against Torino, this despite the fact that the Italian international is the club’s top scorer in Serie A action.

White Hart Lane boss Andre Villas-Boas has steadfastly stuck with England man Jermain Defoe as his starting striker and the experienced forward has repaid the manager’s faith in his services by netting 13 goals in all competitions thus far this season. This has left summer signing Emmanuel Adebayor kicking his heels on the bench.

Therefore is there a need to bring in another option up front? Such a move would perhaps make sense if we were talking about a young pretender who could be drafted in to beef up the numbers whilst ‘bedding-in’ to the game but we are talking about a player who turns 30 next month.

Surely the former Napoli man wouldn’t be happy about making such a move unless he was confident he could make the starting spot his own.

A move to Zenit or Napoli seems more likely.
