Tottenham Set To Revive Pursuit of Playmaker Joao Moutinho With £24m January Bid

AVB still keen to bring former charge to White Hart Lane.

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is set to revive his interest in Portugal midfielder Joao Moutinho and will test his former club Porto’s resolve with a £24 million bid in January, according to reports.

The player excelled during Euro 2012, catching the eye of scouts from big-spending Paris St.-Germain and Zenit St Petersburg, but Moutinho is said to be keen to link up with his former mentor Villas-Boas, who originally brought him to Porto.

Spurs were reported to have agreed a £22 million fee for the 25-year-old on transfer deadline day but the deal reportedly collapsed due to administrative errors.

Moutinho can play anywhere across the midfield but is seen by the Tottenham hierarchy as an ideal injection of creativity into the middle of the park.

The stylish Moussa Dembele has impressed since joining from Fulham for £15m and is considered the perfect partner for Moutinho, while Dempsey’s future is considered to be higher up the pitch.

Porto are currently locked in a tight battle with rivals Benfica for the top spot in the Portuguese Primera Liga but Moutinho is reportedly ready to test himself at a higher level having previously guided Porto to back-to-back championships in the last two seasons.
