Loftus Road side make move for St James’ Park forward.
Newcastle striker Demba Ba has rejected an £80,000-a week offer from Premier League strugglers QPR.
Ba has long been linked with a move away from the North East due to a £7.5million get-out clause in his contract.

It is perhaps a sign of QPR’s desperation to beef up their attacking options that they have mounted a move for Newcastle United striker Demba Ba. Despite the fact the offer has been turned down it does show that Harry Redknapp is being backed financially by owner Tony Fernandes as the West London side battles to avoid the drop.
A lack of goals has certainly been an issue for the Loftus Road side as the likes of Djibril Cisse, Jamie Mackie and Bobby Zamora have struggled for form leading QPR to notch up just 15 goals in 17 Premier League matches this season.
Alan Pardew is likely to lose Demba Ba in January as a number of sides look ready to make the £7.5m offer needed to trigger the striker’s release clause.
It seems more likely that the former West Ham man would be looking to join a club near the top end of the table if he is indeed going to make a St James’ Park exit.
The 27 year old has scored 11 goals in 16 Premier League starts thus far this term and scored 16 during the last campaign.
