Done deal that Man Utd will sign long-term target in summer

The Red Devis have reportedly already agreed to sign Robert Lewandowski

Given the array of attacking riches already available to Sir Alex Ferguson, another striker is arguably the last thing Manchester United need, but reports suggest that an agreement has been reached ‘in principle’ to sign Robert Lewandowski in the summer.

Lewandowski’s performances have been a major factor in Dortmund becoming more of a world force in recent seasons, with ten goals in 16 games for the German champions this season.

Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc has revealed that this will be the Polish striker’s last at Westfalenstadion, stating that it is a “done deal” that he will depart.

Further reports indicate that a transfer sum of £12m has been agreed, with Lewandowski to sign on for five years.

Do Man United need another striker? Could Sir Alex Ferguson really pick up one of Europe’s most consistent strikers for just £12m? These are two questions not really addressed by this source, which claims that Polish international Robert Lewandowski has agreed a deal that will see him move from Borussia Dortmund to Man United in the summer.

Man United have netted 43 goals in 17 Premier League matches this season, comfortably the highest total in the top tier, Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez have all scored frequently and youngster Danny Welbeck offers further support.

Any move for Lewandowski would surely only occur if one of the four aforementioned forwards were to leave Old Trafford.

Ferguson did of course lure Shinji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund over the summer so may fancy his chances of once again successfully raiding the Westfalenstadion.

Lewandowski scored 30 goals in all competitions last term as Jurgen Klopp’s side completed the domestic double and the 24 year old has continued that run of good form this season, netting 15 goals in 24 matches, including four goals in the Champions League group stages.
