Arsenal outcast Andrey Arshavin is close to sealing a January move to relegation-threatened Reading.

Russian winger has proved a massive disappointment and has rarely hit the form that persuaded Arsene Wenger to spend big on the Euro 2008 star. A four goal haul against Liverpool and a decent cameo role against Barcelona are pretty much the only good memories Gunners fans will have of the 31 year old.

Has looked disinterested with life at the club for some months and any decent offer would surely be accepted.

Though Arsenal forked out a record £15m fee to sign the wide-man Arsene Wenger is sure to consider offers of less than a third of the fee they paid so as to offload a player who has become surplus to requirements and is no doubt picking up a hefty salary to boot.

A move to Reading may be one Arshavin is willing to consider as it would lead to regular first team football and a chance to remain in England where he has settled with his family.
