Carlo Cudicini: Spurs goalkeeper leaves for LA Galaxy

Goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini has left Tottenham to sign for Los Angeles Galaxy on a free transfer.

A Tottenham statement read: “We wish Carlo all the best for the future.”

Both Carlo Cudicini and Heurelho Gomes have become very much surplus to requirements following the arrival of Hugo Lloris, with the French international captain vying for the White Hart Lane starting spot with veteran Brad Friedel.

Former Chelsea man Cudicini has spent four years at Tottenham but has managed just 18 Premier League starts in that period and at 39 years of age probably felt the time was right to pursue a new challenge.

The Italian keeper spent nigh on a decade at Chelsea prior to his move to North London, during which time he picked up two Premier League titles, two FA Cup wins and a couple of League Cup triumphs to boot before he was edged out of first team affairs by Petr Cech.
