St James’ Park side target Upton Park youngster.
Newcastle are continuing to show interest in West Ham defender James Tomkins.
The 23-year-old was the subject of a series of failed bids from Alan Pardew last year and West Ham are braced for a fresh bid before the end of the month.

Having seen his side ship in 11 goals in two games it’s perhaps no surprise that Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew would be keen to beef up his back-line.
With Lille full-back Mathieu Debuchy said to be on his way to St James’ Park after a protracted chase the Magpies have now set their sights on West Ham defender James Tomkins.
The 23 year old Hammers man has been linked with interest from the North-East side for some time but perhaps Pardew is ready to make a formal bid for the former England Under 21 international.
Pardew will have been aware of the upcoming talent when he was in charge of the Upton Park side and Tomkins was making his way through the youth team ranks.
The Newcastle United manager may well also be interested in the fact that Tomkins can ply his trade as a defensive midfielder, and area that Pardew may need to strengthen, not least because Cheick Tiote is due to take part in the African Nations Cup for much of January and February.
Tomkins has racked up 131 appearances for West Ham since making his debut in March 2008.
