Anfield side complete deal to sign Stamford Bridge forward.
Liverpool have officially completed the signing of 23 year old England international Daniel Sturridge after a long protracted pursuit of the Chelsea forward.
The former Man City man passed a club medical in late December and has not put pen to paper on a deal which has been completed for an undisclosed fee thought to be in the region of £12m.
Daniel Sturridge is probably chomping at the bit to make an impact at Liverpool and the passion to prove any doubters wrong, having spent much of last year warming the Blues bench, could well work in the Anfield side’s favour.
Liverpool sit in tenth place after an up and down season and sit some ten points off fourth spot though do have a game in hand over all sides that sit between themselves and Chelsea, who occupy the final Champions League spot at present.
Sturridge has made just one Premier League start this season and the 23 year old has made a total of 96 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 24 goals in the process though it is worth noting that 47 of those appearances came from the bench such has been his bit-part role at the West London club.
Talking of his move to the club Sturridge said;
“To have the fans and world-class players we have here is amazing.”
On the issue of what positional role he will play he added:
“I see myself as a striker. I think I perform best there because my attributes, I believe, are used best as a central striker. But I have played on the wing and have learned a lot doing so.
“I’d never refuse to play in that position and I’ve never demanded to play up front, either. For me, whatever the manager wants me to do I will do it and work as hard as I can for the club and the fans.”
