Stamford Bridge side ready to register interest in Bernabeu star.
Roman Abramovich is reportedly considering launching a bid for Real Madrid midfielder Kaka. Though the Chelsea owner has been keen on overhauling this Stamford Bridge side and making long term plans by bringing in youthful additions he is still looking to bring in a ‘marquee’ signing and believes that the Brazilian may be tempted by a move to Stamford Bridge.
Kaka has become something of a bit-part player at Real Madrid and though Jose Mourinho has stated his intention to keep the 30 year old he has been unwilling to offer the former AC Milan a sustained spell in his first team set-up and this contradiction may well lead the playmaker to feel that the Portuguese boss doesn’t see him as part of his plans.
The former World Footballer of the Year has made just four starts in all competitions this season and with Jose Mourinho looking to freshen up his squad following a shaky first half of the season it seems entirely likely that the Real Madrid boss would consider decent offers for any player who wasn’t a first team regular.
Chelsea look almost certain to see veteran midfielder Frank Lampard leave and Kaka may be seen as a medium term replacement for the England international.
Abramovich will hope that the chance to join fellow Brazilians David Luiz, Ramires, Oscar and Lucas Piazon may play a part in convincing Kaka to consider a fresh challenge in the Premier League.
Real Madrid paid £52m to sign Kaka back in the summer of 2009 and will not expect to garner anywhere near such a fee for the experienced flair player though Chelsea may need to spend upwards of £20m to persuade the Spanish giants to sell the attacking midfielder.
Roman Abramovich has once again rediscovered a taste for spending vast sums to improve his Chelsea squad, spending over £80m on new additions in the summer and forking out the £7.5m needed to trigger Demba Ba’s Newcastle United release clause, and the Russian billionaire may well be ready to loosen his purse strings to spend what it takes to sign Kaka either this month or in the summer.
