The 23-year-old defender is already acclimatised to European football having spent the year playing in the Portugal Superliga with Nacional after joining in the last January transfer window.

He has impressed Everton’s onlooking scouts with his attacking displays from full-back and Moyes sees him as the perfect replacement for Baines should Everton receive a staggering offer from Manchester United or Chelsea, who have both been linked with moves to buy the England international as a replacement for Patrice Evra and Ashley Cole respectively.
Everton have concentrated on their defence during the transfer window with Phil Jagielka signing a new deal and committing his future to Goodison Park. And a new face is expected to be added in the shape of Norwegian defender Vegard Forren, who is set to sign in a £4million deal.
Everton had also been linked with a move for former defender Joleon Lescott only for him to commit his future to Manchester City, while Sylvain Distin could be on his way out of the club with QPR interested in signing him in this month’s transfer window.
