Italian full-back to be offered return home to the San Siro?
Newcastle United full-back Davide Santon could be offered a route back to Italy after AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi revealed the club are keen on signing him.
Santon made the move to the Premier League in 2011 and was part of Newcastle’s successful season last year as his move to England paid handsome dividends. But he has endured a much tougher time this season with the St James’ Park club in a battle for their Premier League future.
And AC Milan are set to hand him a way out as they look to improve their own season, having struggled for Serie A form which has left them sitting seventh in the table and out of the title race after seven defeats already.

“We will build a team with young players who can help AC MIlan to be a leader in Italy and in Europe,” Berlusconi said in an interview with Sport MediaSet.
“Davide Santon and Destro? I gave my word to (Milan vice-president) Adriano Galliani I wouldn’t reveal any names, but these are players we like.”
Newcastle, however, will be reluctant to allow Santon to leave given their defensive problems. They have leaked goals in recent weeks and, despite the addition of French international Mathieu Debuchy, have limited defensive options available to manager Alan Pardew.
