St James’ Park skipper wants to return to his native Argentina.
Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini has told the club he wants to leave in January for personal reasons.
While the 30-year-old has not handed in a formal transfer request, a crisis in his personal life means he no longer feels he can stay on Tyneside.

This news will rock St James’ Park and arguably couldn’t be more badly timed.
The Magpies are in a wretched run of form and have just seen top scorer Demba Ba leave for Chelsea and Alan Pardew will hope he can at the very least delay Coloccini’s departure until the summer.
Further talks are in the pipeline, with Newcastle United hoping to persuade the Argentina international to change his mind.
Reportedly club officials fear Coloccini is determined to return to Argentina.
The 30 year old only signed a new four-year contract with Newcastle last year and is favourite with the club’s supporters and by some distance the club’s most effective defensive asset.
Coloccini has racked up 173 appearances for Newcastle United since his £10.3m move to the club in August 2008.
