Brazilian striker to move to White Hart Lane?
Tottenham’s long-term quest to sign £20million Brazilian striker Willian from Shaktar Donetsk is set to intensify following the Ukrainian champions’ capture of Taison.
White Hart Lane boss Andre Villas-Boas has been a long-term admirer of Willian, who he sees as the perfect man to replace Emmanuel Adebayor in attack with the Mali international set to miss a chunk of action while on African Nations Cup duty.
And the chase to sign Willian could have moved closer following the arrival of Taison at Shaktar Donetsk, who beat off Chelsea to sign the Brazilian forward for £12.4million. The arrival of the attacking midfielder could mean that Willian will now be allowed to leave with just 18 months left on his contract with Shaktar keen to sell at his highest value.
Tottenham have been linked with a host of targets during the transfer window including Alvaro Negredo of Seville and Athletic Bilbao’s Fernando Llorente, both forwards that interest Villas-Boas.
They have completed two deals already with the signing of former Manchester United defender Zeki Fryers from Standard Liege and midfielder Lewis Holtby from Schalke with the latter due to join in the summer.
