Goodison Park side ready to tempt Bundesliga midfielder from making summer White Hart Lane switch.
Everton could snatch German international from under Tottenham’s noses according to the Sunday Express.
Tottenham have agreed a pre-contract deal to sign the talented young Schalke midfielder but the Bundesliga side are free to try and sell the player this month so as to avoid losing the 22 year old on a free transfer when his contract comes to an end this summer.
That leaves David Moyes still able to lure the utility man if he can tempt Schalke with a decent offer. Lewis Holtby has fueled speculation of a possible Toffees switch by admitting he is an avid Everton fan whose family’s loyalties are with the Toffees.
Holtby has impressed this term, helping Schalke into the last 16 of the Champions League but is keen to leave his Gelsenkirchen side, hence his agreeing a deal with Tottenham. However perhaps a move to Goodison Park could tempt the midfielder into leaving Germany in January.
