Venezuelan defender wanted at Goodison Park
Everton manager David Moyes is leading the race to sign defender Fernando Amorebieta from Athletic Bilbao is a cut price £400,000 deal.
Bilbao are keen to sell the 27-year-old central defender, a full Venezuelan international who also represented Spain at under-19 level, in the January transfer window to get a transfer fee rather than allow him to leave for free at the end of his contract in the summer.

Amorebieta, who has spent almost all of his professional career at Bilbao, is also interesting Norwich City, West Ham and Stoke – but Everton are thought to be at the head of the queue to complete his signing.
Everton’s transfer window activity has been centre on their defence with the futures of Phil Jagielka and Sylvain Distin have been confirmed. Moyes has also been linked with moves for Brazilian Fernando Marcal and Dutchman Virgil van Dijk as he looks to keep the club in the hunt for Champions League qualification.
West Ham boss Sam Allardyce, meanwhile, stepped up his quest to bring in defensive reinforcements after James Collins joined a growing absentee list after suffering a hamstring injury in the 3-0 defeat at Sunderland at the weekend.
