Brazilian wanted at Stamford Bridge and White Hart Lane
Shaktar Donetsk are ready to sell £20million midfielder Willian and Chelsea and Tottenham are leading the race to sign him, according to the London Evening Standard.
The Brazilian has long been courted by Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas and Chelsea have also entered the frame as they look to find a long-term replacement for Frank Lampard, who looks set to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of his contract in the summer.
Chelsea vs Arsenal tickets still available
Shaktar Donetsk’s £12.4million capture of fellow Brazilian Taison, who Chelsea thought they had signed after agreeing terms with Metalist Kharkhiv, has called into question the long-term future of Willian with the Ukraine champions.
And 24-year-old Willian’s failure to return from Brazil on time to begin a winter training camp has also added to speculation over his future with the player understood to be keen on a move to London.
At Chelsea, he would link up with fellow Brazilians David Luiz, Oscar and Ramires, while at Tottenham he would find a familiar face in midfield alongside him in the shape of Sandro.
The only stumbling block to a move to the Premier League could be Shaktar Donetsk’s continued involvement in the Champions League having qualified for the last 16 by dumping holders Chelsea out of the competition.
