Southampton have sacked manager Nigel Adkins according to a number of reports.
The decision comes after a five game unbeaten run, an excellent draw at Stamford Bridge, and just as the Saints have pulled themselves clear of the relegation zone.
It’s a decision that will baffle many, especially when you consider the 47 year old Liverpudlian had led the South Coast side to back to back promotions.
This move will fuel speculation that St Mary’s chairman Nicola Cortese has lined up a replacement for Adkins.
