Former Chelsea star to join Turkish giants.
Galatasaray have made a move to sign former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba as the Turkish giants’ big-spending transfer window looks set to continue.
Having already captured Dutch international midfielder Wesley Sneijder from Inter Milan for £8.6million, Galatasaray are now hoping to bring Ivory Coast international Drogba back to European just six months after he joined Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.
The 34-year-old Drogba, currently on international duty at the African Nations Cup, had been linked with a move to Italy with both AC Milan and Juventus thought to be interest. But Juventus opted to sign his Shanghai Shenhua team-mate Nicolas Anelka instead.
And Galatasaray have made their move to sign Drogba in a £5million deal, with his management confirming the approach when saying: “They have made a formal bid for him.”
It is understood that Drogba has been offered an 18-month contract at Galatasaray which will earn him close to £10million in wages and bonus, according to the Daily Mail.
