Top 10 Deals That Could Happen Before the January Transfer Window Closes

Ten deals that seem probable, though the clock is ticking….

10. Kaka to AC Milan

This deal may have already been called off due to disagreements of the financial package, but Kaka could complete a move back to AC Milan over the coming days. The Real Madrid midfielder made his name at the San Siro earlier in his career.

9. Peter Odemwingie to Queens Park Rangers

Peter Odemwingie appears to have burnt his bridges at West Brom after handing in a transfer request and criticising the club. It seems only a matter of time before his employers cash in despite being keen to keep him. Expect QPR to sign him before Thursday is out.

8. Kenwyne Jones to Swansea City

Swansea City have made Kenwyne Jones their number one target this transfer window and Stoke City look set to allow him to leave the Britannia Stadium. Jones’ arrival at Swansea should spark the sale of number seven in this list.

7. Danny Graham to Sunderland

Danny Graham handed in a transfer request to Swansea City on Monday and he is expected to complete a £5million move to Sunderland. Stoke City, Norwich City, Reading and Queens Park Rangers are also interested but the pull of his native north-east favours Sunderland’s bid.

6. Sebastian Coates to Wigan

Made surplus to requirements at Liverpool, Sebastian Coates is set for a loan move to Wigan for the remainder of the season. He will find plenty of South American faces at the DW Stadium where the need for a centre-back is at a critical stage.

5. Mauro Zarate to Sunderland

The Argentine striker will have a second bite at the Premier League cherry with Sunderland set to tie up a loan deal for the Lazio forward. He played for Birmingham City previously, but comes better equipped this time around and a much better player too.

4. Mohamed Diame to Arsenal

West Ham has so far held onto midfielder Mohamed Diame, but expect Arsenal to activate his £3.5million release clause. Diame is open to a move to the Emirates Stadium and it could happen in the next 72 hours.

3. Philippe Coutinho to Liverpool

A deal has apparently been struck between Liverpool and Inter Milan for 20-year-old Brazilian Philippe Coutinho, but confirmation has yet to come. Expect the midfielder to be unveiled in the next 24 hours.

2. Mario Balotelli to AC Milan

An on-off saga throughout January, Mario Balotelli’s move back to Italy looks destined to be completed before the month is out. A £17m move looks set to go through to end the Manchester City’s controversial two-and-a-half years in the Premier League.

1. David Villa to Arsenal

What seemed a long shot only a few days ago, David Villa could be unveiled as an Arsenal player after speculation mounted that he will be leaving Barcelona. If it does go through, there won’t be a bigger transfer deal struck in the window.
