The North London club have slumped to three straight Premier League draws in their pursuit of a top four finish and Andre Villas-Boas is seemingly very keen to supplement his attack, not least because Emmanuel Adebayor is away on Africa Cup of Nations duty and with Jermain Defoe playing through the pain barrier.

Now the White Hart Lane side are lining up a bid for French international Gomis, who may well be keen on a move to the Premier League despite his side’s push for a Ligue 1 title.

Lyon have well publicized financial problems that Tottenham know all about, having taken advantage of these issues to land keeper Hugo Lloris in the summer, and this source believes a bid as low as £7m could secure in-form marksman Gomis.

The 27 year old attacker has scored 16 goals in all competitions this season and may be just the ticket as Villas-Boas hopes to stay clear of the chasing pack to secure a coveted Champions League berth.
