The Nou Camp goal machine has just put pen to paper on a new deal that will see him remain at the Catalan club up to 2018 but it seems likely the forward will then look to return to his native Argentina.
Messi stated on Barcelona’s official website; “I said it before – in Europe I’d like to end my career at Barca. I wouldn’t consider moving to another European club. With that said, I’m not ruling out ending my playing career in Argentina.”
The 25 year old is the third Barcelona player to sign contract extensions this year with Carles Puyol and Xavi Hernandez both agreeing deals that run until 2016.
Lionel Messi moved to Barcelona at the age of 13 and will be 31 when his new deal runs out. Thus far the attacker has scored 298 goals in 363 appearances for the club.
