Stamford Bridge side set to bid for Madejeski Stadium youngster.
Chelsea are reportedly planning a summer move to sign Reading keeper Alex McCarthy according to the Daily Star.
fanatix tickets – Manchester City vs Chelsea tickets are on sale from £48 for the match on February 24th at the Etihad Stadium.
The 23 year old custodian is currently out with a shoulder injury but has impressed when called upon and the former England Under 21 international is seemingly a player Chelsea feel has the potential to make a name for himself.
Back-up keeper Hilario is out of contract in the summer and the 37 year old is unlikely to be offered a new deal. Ross Turnbull has been less than impressive when called upon and any move to bring in a new goalie would lead some to wonder just what the Blues plan to do with Belgian international Thibaut Courtois, who has been a huge success during his two season stint at Atletico Madrid.
Petr Cech continues to be Chelsea’s undisputed number one and as such Courtois may not be all that keen on returning to West London and therefore moves to bring in McCarthy may well be due to the fact that the young keeper could be leaving Stamford Bridge permanently this summer.
McCarthy has made 24 appearances for the Royals, of which seven have come in Premier League action.
