Top Ten Foreign Based Talents Who Could Be Premier League Bound This Summer

A collection of talents that are strongly linked with moves to the English top tier this summer.

10. Neilton (Santos)

Branded the new Neymar – which seems a bit of a contradiction when the original one is only 21 and still making his name in the game – Neilton has been linked with a £5million switch to Chelsea in the summer.

The talented 19-year-old could join a Brazilian contingent at Stamford Bridge that already includes David Luiz, Ramires and Oscar as well as Lucas Piazon who is currently on loan in La Liga.

He would be a very cheap purchase in the present transfer climate because of a £5million buy-out clause, but could be a find addition to the ranks given the way Oscar has adapted to life in the Premier League in his debut season this year.

9. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Saint-Etienne)

St Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the subject of strong speculation over a move to the Premier League in January but the rumours failed to materialise into anything.

It was Newcastle United who were strongly mentioned as potential suitors although in the end in opted for five-other French-based players. They are still in need of a new striker and have, however, been linked with a summer swoop for the Gabon international once again.

Aubameyang, known as the King of Bling due to his diamond encrusted boots, has also caught the eye of both Manchester City and Manchester United so looks destined to become a Premier League player.

8. Victor Valdes (Barcelona)

Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes sparked a mad dash for his signature this summer when announcing he will not be renewing his contract at the Nou Camp when it expires at the end of next season.

As a result, Barcelona are likely to sell the 31-year-old Spanish international at the end of the current campaign and Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City are all thought to be interested in the man who had been the last line of defender in the all-conquering Barcelona side.

With Pepe Reina potentially leaving Liverpool to return to Spain and ironically Barcelona, a swap deal taking Valdes to Anfield looks on the cards.

7. Stevan Jovetic (Fiorentina)

Arsenal are keen to sign £25million forward Stevan Jovetic and made him their number one transfer target in the summer after ditching plans to return to sign Barcelona striker David Villa, who may yet still move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer after a January deal failed to come off.

The 23-year-old Jovetic, a Montenegro international forward, would be regarded as the new Robin Van Persie should he sign on the dotted line at Arsenal.

The one stumbling block to any deal would be the price tag with Arsene Wenger never having splashed out more than £15million on a play, which he paid for Andrei Arshavin, but he seems determined to bring Jovetic to England.

6. Willian (Shakhtar Donetsk)

When Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wants to get his man he usually does so and that certainly seems to be case when it comes to Brazilian Willian.

Chelsea missed out in January when Shaktar Donetsk sold him to Anzhi Makhachkala, but it is understood that politics were involved in that deal and Abramovich expects to get his man this summer for £35million.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder would fill the void likely to be left by Frank Lampard perfectly and it seems that the Brazilian will eventually become a Chelsea player at a cost of £5million more than would have been the case in January.

5. Christian Eriksen (Ajax)

Danish star Christian Eriksen sparked a race for his signature when rejecting a new deal at Ajax and no fewer than four Premier League teams – Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham – are in the running to sign him.

Eriksen is one of the hottest properties in Europe and has been targeted by the Premier League quartet as well as Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich and La Liga champions-elect Barcelona.

Still only 20, Eriksen comes with an asking price of upwards of £15million and it is Liverpool who are thought to be in pole position to land the playmaker in the summer.

4. Isco (Malaga)

Malaga’s 20-year-old playmaker Isco was expected to become a Chelsea player in the January transfer window, but the young Spaniard instead chose to sign a new deal with the La Liga side.

That is something of a red herring, however, as it only served to increase the release clause transfer fee in his contract, meaning Chelsea will just have to part with a few more of owner Roman Abramovich’s roubles to get their man.

Despite the clause, Isco could still become a Chelsea signing in the summer and will become a replacement for Frank Lampard should the midfielder leave when his current contract expires at the end of the season.

3. David Villa (Barcelona)

David Villa’s transfer from Barcelona to Arsenal was an on-off affair during January with the £17million switch the Emirates Stadium eventually failing to come to fruition.

The European Champion and World Cup winner is expected to leave Barcelona in the summer and it is Arsenal who are hoping to lead the way to bring him to the Premier League.

He has been hospitalised this week, but there should not be any concerns that the 31-year-old is approaching his latter day because there is plenty of life in the old dog yet. He should be seen in the Premier League next season and don’t rule out Manchester City yet getting in on the act.

2. Radamel Falcao (Atletico Madrid)

There have been suggestions from Spanish media that a deal is in place for Atletico Madrid forward Radamel Falcao to join Chelsea in the summer, and there is every likelihood that a deal could yet happen.

The Colombian would be an ideal addition to replace the misfiring Fernando Torres in attack at Chelsea with the possibility that Belgian international goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could make a permanent move at Atletico Madrid having been on loan from Chelsea for the past two seasons.

Falcao is one of Europe’s most sought-after striker with Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona all have been linked with a move for him but it could be the blue of Chelsea he is wearing next season.

1. Edinson Cavani (Napoli)

Chelsea and Manchester City are vying to sign Uruguayan international striker Edinson Cavani from Italian side Serie A and he looks destined to become a star of next season in the Premier League.

City have targeted Cavani, who could cost as much as the £52million release clause figure in his contract, as the man to revitalise the club following a disappointing season in defence of their Premier League title.

With Mario Balotelli gone and Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko potentially following him, Cavani could be left to form a partnership with Sergio Aguero in attack – unless Chelsea have the funds to scupper a deal for the Napoli hitman.
