Man United are readying a £55m bid to re-sign their former attacker Cristiano Ronaldo this summer according to the Daily Star.

The 28 year old is reportedly unhappy with life at Real Madrid and with Jose Mourinho seemingly set to leave the Bernabeu at the end of the season the Old Trafford side may feel they can tempt the Portuguese goal machine back to Manchester United.

Sir Alex Ferguson saw Ronaldo move to Real Madrid in a record breaking £80m deal in the summer of 2009 but it seems that Man United are of the belief that an offer of £55m could tempt Real Madrid to sell arguably the club’s most pivotal player.

Real Madrid have been trying to tie down their prized asset to a new longer term contract but as yet have failed to do so and there is speculation that president Florentino Perez has lost his patience on his front and is ready to listen to offers for Cristiano Ronaldo but one would imagine such an offer would have to be in excess of the hefty sum the Spanish giants paid.

Ronaldo holds Sir Alex Ferguson in very high regard and if he were to leave Real Madrid a move back to Man United seems entirely plausible.

The former Sporting Lisbon man spent six seasons at Man United, racking up 118 goals in 292 appearances and winning three Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Ronaldo has gone from strength to strength in Spain’s top tier, scoring an astonishing 183 goals in 181 appearances for Real Madrid.
