Emirates Stadium side keen on St James’ Park schemer.
Arsenal are readying a move for Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye according to the Daily Express.
The 27 year old French international had an excellent first season in the English top tier last term as he helped his Magpies side to an excellent top six finish. Things have not gone quite according to plan during the current campaign and this could well lead to the former Lille man being open to a possible move to the North London club.
Arsene Wenger is to be handed a £70m transfer war-chest and is ready to mount a £15m bid for Cabaye, a player who cost the St James’ Park side £4.8m just over 18 months ago, an offer that Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley may well consider accepting.
Sir Alex Ferguson is also said to be monitoring the cultured midfielder and in the face of interest from their heavyweight Premier League pair Alan Pardew may struggle to keep hold of the intelligent midfielder.
Wenger may see the box to box midfielder as an ideal player to bring in to add more of a steely edge to his Arsenal midfield though could perhaps be in more dire need of an out and out defensive midfielder to offer the likes of Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla protection in the middle of the park.
