Anfield centre-back linked with exit.
Check in to Wigan Athletic vs Liverpool
Liverpool centre-back Martin Skrtel is set for a summer Anfield exit according to the Daily Telegraph.
The no-nonsense defender says he was misled about his recent removal from Liverpool’s first team set-up and this has now led to a flurry of interest in the Slovakian international, including most pressingly from sides in the Russian Premier League.
The likes of Anzhi and Zenit have both been linked with interest in the 28 year old and with the Russian transfer window set to close in a matter of days there could well be a bid in the offing for the Liverpool defender.
Skrtel has missed the last four Premier League matches, with Brendan Rodgers leaving the defender warming the bench and wondering about his long term future at the Merseyside club.
Martin Skrtel is in the main considered Liverpool’s most consistent defensive performers but it appears that Rodgers may be ushering the defender towards a possible exit.
Skrtel has made over 200 appearances since his move to Liverpool in January 2008.
