Chelsea are growing increasingly confident they will be able to lure back former Blues boss Jose Mourinho this summer according to the Evening Standard.

Tickets for the upcoming West London derby are now available. Get tickets to see Chelsea v Fulham at Craven Cottage on March 10th.

The Portuguese manager looks likely to leave Real Madrid having seemingly fallen out with a number of his star players and a significant portion of his Bernabeu support and is set to see his La Liga title wrestled back by a resurgent Barcelona. Therefore a move back to Chelsea could be well timed for the 50 year old.

Rafa Benitez appears unlikely to remain in his ‘interim’ post for much longer following his astonishing outburst following Chelsea’s FA Cup win over Middlesbrough and this source believes Russian owner Roman Abramovich will look to bring in good friend Avram Grant to hold the fort until the end of the current campaign.

It appears that Mourinho and Abrmovich have patched up the differences that led to ‘The Special One’ leaving the club back in September 2007, with the pair having been in contact in recent months, perhaps laying the ground work for an emotional return to the West London club.

Mourinho is liked and respected by Chelsea’s players and supporters and could well be seen as Abramovich is the ideal choice for the role, not least because Pep Guardiola opted to move to Bayern Munich some months back.
