Arsenal to Sell Defensive Trio, Target Quartet of Replacements and Make Jack Wilshere Captain as Part of Summer Shake-Up

Emirates Stadium side set for a host of changes this summer.

Check in to Swansea City vs Arsenal

Arsene Wenger has grown impatient with his Gunners back-line and will look to offload a trio of under-performing defenders this summer according to the Daily Mail.

Tickets are now available for upcoming Premier League fixtures including Arsenal tickets, Manchester United tickets, Manchester City tickets, Newcastle United tickets, Liverpool FC tickets and Tottenham Hotspur tickets

The Arsenal boss has apparently decided to offload Thomas Vermaelen and Per Mertesacker as he looks for alternative centre-back options this summer.

Wenger is not only concerned about skipper Vermaelen’s form of late but also a recurring ankle problem that could leave the player with long term injury concerns.

Though giant German international Mertesacker started the season well in recent weeks and months the former Werder Bremen man has looked off the pace and is making too many errors for Wenger’s liking.

The North London club have earmarked interest in a quartet of possible central defensive replacements with Marseille’s Nicolas N’Koulou, Atletico Bilbao’s Fernando Amorebieta, Real Madrid’s Raul Albiol and Swansea’s Ashley Williams all on the Arsenal radar.

Arsenal opened the season with three straight clean sheets but have struggled at the back ever since. Indeed Wenger has watched on as his side have picked up just six clean sheets in the last 25 top tier fixtures.

Bacary Sagna PSG

Arsene Wenger is expected to make right-back Bacary Sagna available for sale this summer and will either look to youngster Carl Jenkinson to fill the spot or make a move for an experienced defender to help provide strength in depth in the position.

As part of the summer shake-up Wenger will also offer the club captaincy to youngster Jack Wilshere who is to be rewarded with the chance to lead the club after a continued period of good form from the England man following his spell out injured.
