Man United Winger Wilfried Zaha Apologises for Middle Finger Gesture Towards Leeds United Fans

England international could still be in trouble over gesture.

England winger Wilfried Zaha has apologised for a rude gesture he made in the direction of Leeds United supporters during Crystal Palace’s 2-2 draw at Selhurst Park.

Palace winger Zaha was taunted by Leeds fans over his impending transfer to Manchester United and the 20-year-old responded by raising his middle finger towards the Yorkshire team’s supporters during the Championship fixture on Saturday.

United and Leeds are long-time rivals but Ivory Coast-born Zaha, who will move to Old Trafford at the end of the season after signing a contract with Alex Ferguson’s team in January, was quick to say sorry for his actions.

“On that note I also wanted to apologise for the gesture I did towards the Leeds fans in yesterday’s game. Very unprofessional from me,” he wrote on Twitter.

Eagles boss Ian Holloway will hope that the youngster is not handed a ban of any sort as the South London side look to continue their push for promotion to the Premier League.
