The Mexican international struggled to retain a spot in Arsene Wenger’s starting eleven and opted to leave for Real Sociedad after a successful season on loan at the Basque side.
Vela has scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 23 La Liga starts this term, helping Philippe Montanier’s side surge up the table and into the top five and currently occupying a spot that would secure a Champions League berth, due to Malaga being banned from competing in the competition next term.
Given that Arsenal do not have a host of effective striking options a move to re-sign the flair player may be one that Arsene Wenger would consider a wise move to make.
Currently the North London club relies heavily on Olivier Giroud as the club’s lead striker but the Frenchman has had an up and down season and Vela better suits the Arsenal style of play and with another season of top level football under his belt the 24 year old may be better suited to making a real impact at Arsenal.
Vela has scored a total of 24 goals in 51 La Liga appearances for Real Sociedad.
