The East London side are keen to bring in the 28 year old custodian who has seemingly lost the race for the Old Trafford starting spot to Spaniard David de Gea. The Hammers may well see Lindegaard as a long term replacement for veteran Finn Jussi Jääskeläinen who turns 38 next month.
Lindegaard may feel that such a move would help re-ignite a career that is in danger of stagnating on the Man United bench. Sir Alex Ferguson has opted to use De Gea as his first choice and the former Aalesund goalkeeper’s last Premier League appearance came in the club’s 4-3 win over Reading back in December.
Lindegaard has managed just two clean sheets in his eight top tier starts this season and Ferguson may be willing to allow the Danish international to leave and then opt to use 22 year old Ben Amos as a back-up for De Gea.
Man United spent £3.5m to bring Lindegaard to the club back in January 2011 and would probably accept a similar fee from the Hammers.
