Swedish striker lavishes praise on England midfielder.

PSG’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic has heaped the praise on England midfielder David Beckham according to The Daily Mail.

The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan star completed his first full 90 minutes for the club during the Ligue 1 side’s 2-2 draw with St. Etienne.

Swedish striker Ibrahimovic has spoken of his surprise at the ex-England captain’s youthful display.

Ibrahimovic was shocked that the player is still capable of performing to such high standards despite his ageing years.

‘I think anybody who thought David was past his best when he signed for us is now very quiet,’ said Ibrahimovic.

‘That man on the pitch for us looked 25.

‘Central midfield is the position where you need the most energy. He showed he is not only one of the best passers in the world but that he can still be tough in the tackle and run for 90 minutes.’

Beckham surprised many when he announced his decision to join the French club after his contract with MLS club LA Galaxy expired near the end of last year.

Many at the time suggested Beckham was looking for one last big pay-day before retirement as the club are currently owned by the wealthy Qatari Royal family.

But Beckham responded to those critics by announcing he would be donating the entirety of his salary to a children’s charity.

Beckham almost scored against St. Etienne with one of his trademark free-kicks, and PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti was reportedly so impressed by the player’s performance, he is considering starting Beckham in the club’s up-coming Champions League quarter-final tie against Catalan giants Barcelona.
