Yaya Toure ‘Feels Unappreciated’, Demands New Contract Despite Current £220k a Week Deal Still Having Two Years to Run

Etihad Stadium midfielder angling for even more money?

Man City midfielder Yaya Toure is reportedly demanding a new Etihad Stadium contract despite his current £220k a deal still having two years to run.

The Daily Mail claims that the Ivory Coast international feels unappreciated by the Premier League title holders and has demanded a new contract by Saturday.

Toure is one of the game’s biggest earners and such a demand will surely be given short shrift by Man City’s board who may wish to elect to sell the former Barcelona man rather than give in to the 29 year old’s ultimatum.

Toure’s agent was quick to state that his clients intentions were not financial stating;

‘This is not about money. He wants to leave for many reasons. He does not feel the respect of the staff,’ Seluk added

‘It’s a pity City pay big money, but do not understand that human relations mean more than anything. Yaya feels the club do not want him.

‘Yaya is extremely well paid at City and is the first to recognise that. But he is the No 1 in the world in his position and can get the same money elsewhere. He has been ready to sign for six months on the same money.

Clearly if this was just a case of getting a new deal at the same rate then there seems little need to look to re-negotiate more than two years before the end date of his current deal?

Man City currently sit in second spot in the Premier League and have little hope of retaining their title and flopped in the Champions League for the second year running, this may lead Yaya to believe that the Etihad Stadium side are unable to hit the heights he had hoped, hence his need to force the issue, even if this were to lead to him being sold.
