Manchester United have sent a team of scouts to monitor the progress of Stoke’s Asmir Begovic according to The Daily Mail.

The goalkeeper is currently on international duty with Bosnia and played in his country’s international fixture with Greece on Friday.

The Premier League leaders are considering a summer bid for the stopper and sent over scouts to report back on the player’s performance.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to bring in a new goalkeeper this summer to provide competition for Spanish youngster David De Gea. While the Old Trafford number one has been in good form in recent weeks, there remain questions over the player’s aerial ability.

Anders Lindegaard looks set to leave the club this summer in search of first-team football and Fergie is keen to bring in a top quality replacement that can challenge De Gea for a first-team place.

United are likely to face competition for Begovic’s signature though as a number of Premier League clubs are reported to be interested in the player.

Arsenal are also on the look-out for a goalie to provide competition to Polish stopper Wojciech Szczesny while Chelsea are in need of a back-up for Peter Cech with Thibault Courtois set to remain at Atletico Madrid for another year.
