Chelsea Launch Formal Bid for Brazilian Starlet Neymar

Stamford Bridge side express interest in Santos star.

According to French source Le10Sport Chelsea have made a formal offer for Brazilian youngster Neymar.

The 21 year old is one of the most sought after talents in world football and though a great deal of speculation suggests that the talented striker will not leave Santos until after the 2014 World Cup Finals this source suggests that Chelsea, and Bayern Munich, have both made expressed their desire to sign Neymar this summer.

Roman Abramovich may well be looking to bring in a ‘Marquee’ signing this summer and certainly has the spending power to land Neymar there is also the small matter of apparent interest from La Liga giants Barcelona, who are said to be the most likely destination should the starlet make his long awaited move to Europe.

Neymar has more than shown his ability in his homeland, scoring 129 goals in 209 appearances, but until he leaves Brazil to test himself in one of Europe’s big leagues many will question just what he is capable of.

A move to Chelsea may well tempt the Sao Paulo born forward and the fact that fellow countrymen David Luiz, Ramires, Oscar and Lucas Piazon are also on the Stamford Bridge books may well work in Abramovich’s favour.

Pep Guardiola’s arrival at Bundesliga champions elect Bayern Munich may also be a draw for Neymar and if a move to Europe does occur this summer then there will be no shortage of offers but it will take a mammoth bid to persuade Santos to cash-in on their prized asset.
