Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has set his sights on AC Milan forward Giampaolo Pazzini as he looks to strengthen his Gunners attack.

The Italian international has played something of a limited role in the San Siro side’s first team set-up this term, though is still the club’s second top scorer. However Pazzini may well see his chances even further compromised following the January arrival of Mario Balotelli from Man City.

Wenger sees the experienced forward as an ideal addition to his Arsenal ranks and will hope to lure the former Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Inter Milan man, who could be tempted bya move to the Premier League if he feels that he is likely to become surplus to requirements at AC Milan.

Rossoneri boss Massimiliano Allegri is keen to plan for the future and with the likes of Stephane El Shaarawy, M’Biaye Niang and the aforementioned Balotelli in the club’s attacking armoury, it is possible that AC Milan would consider offers for Pazzini, who has started just 13 of AC Milan’s 30 Serie A matches thus far this season.

Olivier Giroud has had a fairly decent first season in the Premier League but Wenger is keen to bring in alternative options and will look to make room for such a signing by offloading Nicklas Bendtner, Marouane Chamakh and Park Chu-Young on a permanent basis, with the trio all currently farmed out on loan deals.

Pazzini has been a consistent customer at Serie A level, scoring 66 goals in 159 appearances, of which 34 were from the bench.

Arsene Wenger will offer the intelligent striker the chance of more regular first team football but Pazzini will reportedly only be interested in such a move if the North London club have Champions League to offer.

Lazio have also recently been linked with interest in Pazzini but the chance to ply his trade away from the Serie A may be a challenge the 28 year old could be tempted by.
