Christian Benteke Ready For Aston Villa Contract Talks

Belgian striker happy to commit future to the club if they retain their Premier League status.

Aston Villa are looking  to tie down their striker Christian Benteke this week according to The Daily Mail.

The Belgian forward has been in great form during his debut season in the Premier League. The striker has been in prolific form and Villa would undoubtedly be in a far more precarious position were it not for Benteke’s goals.

The 22 year old’s performances have not gone unnoticed by other clubs within the Premier League and a number of top sides are thought to be monitoring his availability.

Tottenham are thought to be leading the chase for the player’s signature as they look to bring in attacking reinforcements this summer to provide competition for Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor.

Chelsea are also thought to be weighing up a bid for Benteke after club officials finally ran out of patience with misfiring Spanish international Fernando Torres.

But Villa boss Paul Lambert is desperate to keep Benteke at Villa Park and will be hoping to persuade the player to turn down the advances of other teams.

The club will offer Benteke a new deal which will double his current salary to £40,000 a week and the striker has reportedly confirmed he will put pen to paper once the club’s Premier League safety is assured.
