Arsenal Dealt Huge Blow In Race To Land Bundesliga Star

Gunners unlikely to bring German international to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger is facing the prospect of not securing his top transfer target for next season after it was revealed that in-demand Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze is likely to remain in Germany for at least another campaign, reports the Daily Mail.

The north London club, like many of their top-flight rivals, have been keeping close tabs on the highly-rated Germany international ever since the player first broke on to the scene at Dortmund four years ago.

However, it is this campaign that the 20-year-old playmaker has really moved his game up a level, with his eye-catching performances helping to inspire Jugen Klopp’s side all the way to the semi-finals of the Uefa Champions League.

And that had led to rumors that the Gunners were preparing a £35 million bid to sign Gotze this summer, however, his agent has now come out to put an end to those stories by confirming that the the player is staying at the Westfalenstadion for at least one more year.
