Former Spurs midfielder believes Catalan giants will prove too strong for Bayern.
Rafael Van der Vaart has stated his belief that Bayern Munich will be beaten by Barcelona according to Goal.com.
The European giants are set to go head to head over the coming weeks as they battle it out for a place in this year’s Champions League final.
The two clubs are widely regarded as favourites to life the trophy after some impressive displays during the course of the campaign.
Bayern won a whole host of plaudits after they demolished a Juventus side that has dominated Italian football over the last eighteen months.
Barcelona are also hotly tipped to win the title as they are able to call upon the talents of Leo Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta from within their ranks.
Dutch international Van der Vaart has now offered his opinion on the debate with the former Real Madrid and Hamburg player having previously played against both teams.
But despite Hamburg going down to Bayern 9-2 recently, Van der Vaart believes Bayern do not have what it takes to stop Leo Messi and his Barcelona team mates.
“Bayern do not have a chance against Barcelona,” said Van der Vaart.
“When both sides meet, Bayern will only have 30 per cent possession or so. Barca always have the ball. Their system is unbelievable.
“There is one player who makes the difference between Bayern and Barcelona and that’s Messi.
“The Bundesliga has reached new heights this season and is the most interesting league in my opinion. I do not think Bayern have a chance against Barca, though.”
