Emirates Stadium boss ready to spend big.
Arsenal are hoping to tempt unhappy Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas into leaving the Bernabeu this summer and the chances of the Spanish international doing so will be increased if the La Liga giants retain the services of Jose Mourinho according to the Sunday People.
Wenger has set his sights on the £30m rated keeper due to his lack of belief in the three current goalkeeping options he has available to him, Wojciech Szczesny, Lukasz Fabianski and Vito Mannone, and a move to sign the World Cup winner would be quite some statement of intent by the North London club.
The Emirates Stadium boss will reportedly be handed a big transfer fund this summer but could look to use right-back Bacary Sagna as part payment, with the French international strongly linked with a move away from the club this summer.
Jose Mourinho and Iker Casillas don’t get on and have endured something of a frosty relationship this term, indeed the Real Madrid boss has been happy to drop the club captain for much of the season and the 31 year old’s last La Liga start was way back last December.
Mourinho even opted to bring in Diego Lopez from Sevilla to take Casillas’s spot in January and if the former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss remains at the club there is every possibility that the Spanish international, who has 143 caps to his name, will demand to leave the club he has represented since the age of nine.
Clearly Arsenal must secure a Champions League spot to have any chance of luring Casillas this summer.
