Barcelona’s Isaac Cuenca wants another year in Amsterdam.
Arsenal and Liverpool are set to be disappointed this summer as their interest in Barcelona youngster Isaac Cuenca is set to come to nothing, according to talkSPORT.
The 22-year-old forward joined Dutch champions elect Ajax on loan in January and he has spoken of his desire to stay there for another season.
He has made just five appearances in Amsterdam so far this season but both club and player have suggested that they would be open to extending his stay beyond the summer. Injuries have taken their toll on him since joining and he is keen to stick around and show the fans just what he can do.
“I hope to be able to stay for another year at Ajax – and Barcelona know this too. Because of injury I have not been able to play much, but next season could be important,” he told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.
Cuenca began his career at Sabadell before linking up with Barcelona’s B team. He made 30 appearances for the first team last season, scoring four goals. Limited action this term, however, saw the club move him on to Ajax to seek some much needed first team experience.
