Upton Park side set sights on Goodison Park forward.
West Ham have set their sights on Everton striker Nikica Jelavic having decided that Liverpool forward Andy Carroll is too expensive an option to consider according to the Daily Mirror.
As part of the Hammers loan agreement with Liverpool the East London side have first option on England international Carroll but would have to pay as much as £17m to sign the 24 year old on a permanent basis and though the former Newcastle United man has impressed for much of the season there is a feeling that’s a price the Upton Park side are not willing to pay.

Jelavic may be a cheaper option and though the Croatian international has hit a period of poor form the 27 year old could be a more likely purchase than Carroll.
The former Rangers man netted 11 goals in 16 appearances last term following his January move South of the Border but the intelligent forward has struggled to his that level of consistency this term.
David Moyes has been forced to drop Jelavic in recent weeks after he hit a run of barren form which has seen him scored just two goals in his last 24 appearances in all competitions.
Given that poor level of recent form there is a chance Everton would consider offers of around the same fee they paid Rangers, £5m.
