Top Ten Premier League Goalkeepers In 2012/13

It’s end of season poll time.

Each week we will invite our readers to vote in a poll that will help us to produce a Premier League Best XI of 2012/13.

Today is the turn of the custodians.

Joe Hart (Man City)

Whilst clearly not as good a season as he put in last term the England man is in many ways suffering from not hitting his very own standards. Man City conceded less goals than any other Premier League side by quite some margin.

Pepe Reina (Liverpool)

Had a shaky start to the campaign and even lost his place to Brad Jones briefly but has improved significantly and somewhere near his best. Five clean sheets in his last seven Premier League appearances.

Asmir Begovic (Stoke City)

Rock solid for a disappointing Potters side this term, has twelve clean sheets, only two keepers have more.

Julio Cesar (QPR)

Possibly one of the few bright points of QPR’s disastrous season the Brazilian has been relatively solid this season.

Simon Mignolet (Sunderland)

Belgian has been tremendous this season, managed 11 clean sheets despite having faced the second most shots of any keeper in the top tier.

Tim Howard (Everton)

He may be slightly unhinged but the American has kept his blunders down to a bare minimum this term. No one outside the top four have conceded less than the Toffees.

Petr Cech (Chelsea)

Continues to impress, there is a reason why Chelsea have no need to recall youngster Thibaut Courtois from his Atletico Madrid loan spell. 13 clean sheets.

David de Gea (Man United)

Got the nod in the PFA team of the year, the Spaniard has overcome a great deal of criticism to go on to make a real impact at Man United. Eight clean sheets in his last 11 Premier League appearances.

Hugo Lloris (Tottenham)

Has to wait for his chance to take Brad Friedel’s spot but the Frenchman has not looked back since he did so.

Brad Guzan (Aston Villa)

Slightly unorthodox style but in pure shot-stopping terms the American is one of the best in the top tier right now. Has kept Aston Villa in games they probably would have lost comfortably but for him.
