Man United Hope to Seal £21m Deal to Sign Spanish Midfield Maestro Isco

Old Trafford side look to freshen up midfield.

Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly looking to step up his interest in Spanish international Isco and is ready to make an opening offer in the region of €25m (£21m) for the highly rated Malaga midfielder.

The Man United boss is keen to freshen up his midfield this summer and having scouted the 21 year old on a number of occasions, including a personal monitoring mission of his own at a recent La Liga fixture, the Scot will look to tempt the cash-strapped La Liga side to consider an offer for the youngster.

Isco has a breakthrough season in his first term at La Rosaleda last season, where he helped Malaga to secure their maiden Champions League berth. However the club’s Qatari owners had over-stretched themselves financially and were forced to sell a number of stars in both the summer and January transfer windows with the likes of Salomon Rondon, Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal sold to help balance the books.

Despite sales of some of their top performers Manuel Pellegrini’s side fought their way through to the Champions League quarter-finals whilst still battling to secure a top six finish in La Liga.

Isco has been particularly effective, netting 11 goals in all competitions and forcing his way into Vicente del Bosque’s senior Spanish national team set-up. The former Valencia man has been especially effective during their Champions League run, proving that he is more than capable of making an impact at the highest level.

Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to bring in an attack minded midfielder and will look to continue his youthful transfer policy and believes Isco is a player with a bright future.

With the likes of Michael Carrick, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs all either in the latter stages of their careers, or indeed set to hang up their boots for good, Ferguson sees Isco as an ideal addition to his squad as he looks to build for the future.

He is also hoping to bring in a player who can help share the goal-scoring burden with his current crop of midfielder and wingers failing to offer much in the way of support in terms of end product.

With Malaga banned from competing in European competition next term the club’s owners will be looking to sell a player or two to help make ends meet and Isco is a player they are likely to consider cashing in on when the transfer window re-opens.
