Juventus lead the race for Real Madrid striker.
Italian giants Juventus are favourites to poach Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid under the noses of Premier League duo Arsenal and Tottenham, according to the Daily Express.
The Argentinian striker is surplus to requirements at the Bernebeu and the club have confirmed he will be sold in the summer. A move to England looked likely, with Spurs looking to use Gareth Bale as part of the deal, but Juve have made him a priority due to their desire to sign a recognised striker for next season.
They have also been linked with another Arsenal target, Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic. There is also talk that Edin Dzeko could arrive from Manchester City, with a busy transfer window expected for the Serie A champions.
This will come as a blow to Spurs and Arsenal, who have been linked with a whole host of forwards to improve their fortunes next season. Both sides have ambitions to win silverware, but have come up short this season due to a lack of options upfront.
Spurs have only Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor, both of whom have had disappointing seasons, while Arsenal only really have Olivier Giroud, though Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott have filled in upfront on occasion.
