Midfielder keen to stay at Barca.
Barcelona midfielder Alex Song has denied reports that he is set to return to England after failing to nail down a regular first team spot with the Catalan club, according to the London Evening Standard.
The 25-year-old joined the club last summer in a £15 million deal from Arsenal and has so far managed just 18 league appearances for the Spanish champions this term.
His decision to join them in the first place drew a lot of criticism and his lack of action has drawn even more and he has been linked with a quick exit several times with a return to Arsenal mooted as well as a switch to North London rivals Spurs.
But despite his lack of playing time the Cameroonian international insists that he’s not going anywhere.
“It is hard because no [speculation] comes from me. I know I am very happy here, my family is happy here, for sure I will be here next season,” he said.
Song is currently in the first year of a five-year deal and whoever would want to take him off of Barca’s hands would have to stump up a considerable amount of cash as the club would want to recoup a significant amount of what they’d spent.
