Christian Benteke Loving Life At Aston Villa

Belgian striker is happy to be playing in England and scoring regularly.

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has expressed his happiness at live in claret & blue as he appears ready to commit his future to the club, according to Sky Sports.

The 22-year-old joined the club last summer from Belgian outfit Genk for a fee a little over £7 million and has hit the ground running in the Premier League scoring 22 goals for Villa in his debut campaign.

His goals have been vital to the club in helping drive them up the table to ease their relegation woes and his good form is set to be rewarded by Paul Lambert with a pay rise and a fresh contract.

“I am very happy to play at Aston Villa,” he told the Birmingham Mail.

“I try to enjoy doing my job. When I come to the training ground I try to keep smiling because some people in their life have some hard jobs so we have to enjoy our jobs. That’s why I try to be positive all of the time.”

“When I came the fans gave me a lot of respect and I try to give it to them back on the pitch.”

Benteke picked up the young player of the season award at the club’s annual end of season dinner this week, capping off a truly memorable first season in England for the Belgian international.

“I am very proud to get this trophy but I would like to say thank you to my team-mates and to the supporters. The supporters are with us all the way and I’m very proud.”

“I think Paul Lambert is a very good manager. We have a young squad and he is always behind us. For a young team like us it is very important to have a trainer that is behind us.”
