Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente has admitted that he has no regrets at electing to join Juventus ahead of making his switch this summer, according to talkSPORT.

The 28-year-old was a long term target of Tottenham Hotspur’s and was heavily linked with a move to North London two summers ago. However, the Spanish international has opted to join Juventus this summer and insists that he has no regrets about not heading to the Premier League.

“They [Juventus] are one of the best on the continent,” he said. “They’ve shown over the last two seasons that they are the best in Italy,” he said.

“I’m very happy. Although I’m focused on Athletic right now, there is something very important waiting for me in the future.”

Llorente has spent his entire career with Bilbao having broke into the first team in 2005. He has bagged 116 goals in 328 games for the club who are famous for their ‘Basque only’ player policy.

He rose to prominence last season following a successful year that saw him notch 29 goals as they collected the scalp of Manchester United en route to the Europa League final that saw them succumb to La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.

His impact has been diminished this season, though, after disputes with the club’s board had seen him frozen out at the start of the campaign, and since returning he has managed just three goals.
